This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained soil (or loam-based potting compost)
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to October
  • Hardiness: frost hardy (may require winter protection)

Fuchsia 'Ballet Girl' is a stunning and award-winning cultivar. This strong-growing and bushy plant is exceptionally beautiful, with medium to large double flowers that are decorated with bright cerise sepals and white corollas marked by red veining. The blooms are almost non-stop, lasting from early summer until the first frosts, and they contrast stunningly against the serrated foliage that ranges from mid to dark green. Bees are especially attracted to this shrub, which grows upright and strong. It can be trained as a full or half standard, making it an ideal choice for a potted, patio specimen.

  • Garden care: For the best results, protect from cold, drying winds. To produce bushy, well-branched plants pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves. During the growing season water regularly, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. Cut back to the permanent framework in early spring. In autumn, it is advisable to mulch the roots with a thick layer of well-rotted compost.
  • Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
