Highly prized for their showy flowers, lilies come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes. The lilies in this collection all produce white flowers, which will look wonderful in midsummer when planted in borders or pots - although their flowers will also last well when cut for the vase. Originating from temperate regions throughout the Northern Hemisphere where they are found growing in woodland, scrub and open meadows, lilies thrive in moist, preferably neutral to acidic soils that are rich in organic matter.

The RSPCA has reported that all parts of the lily can be fatal to cats, including the flower, leaves and pollen. For more information visit RSPCA.org.uk.

In this collection you will receive 1 bulb each of:

    Lilium regale
One of the most popular varieties of lily, and it’s not hard to see why. The huge trumpet-shaped white flowers are flushed with pink, smell divine and provide great wafts of scent throughout the garden when they are open. Grows to 150cm.

    Lilium regale 'Album'
An incredibly popular variety with large, almost pure white trumpets with orange anthers. This is a form of Lilium regale which does not have the pink flush to the outside of the petals, but has retained every ounce of the sumptuously strong scent of its parent. A great choice for white borders, and looks spectacular at night when the flowers really seem to glow. Grows to 150cm.

    Lilium longiflorum 'Pearl White'
Sturdy stems, which are clothed in slender, rich green leaves, are topped in early summer with a cluster of large, outward-facing, creamy white flowers. Show-stopping in the border (or when grown in a sturdy pot on the patio), their flowers are sought after by florists as they can last for a couple of weeks when cut for the vase. Grows to 150cm.

  • Garden care: Lilies can be planted at any time from early autumn to mid-spring. Planting in autumn often helps them settle in and become better established before they start to put on their new spring growth, but spring planting is a better option if your soil is heavy and wet during winter. Choose a sunny spot, preferably where the plant receives a little light shade at its base, and plant each bulb 15-20cm deep in a well-drained soil, enriched with well-rotted organic matter or leaf mould. Space them at 15-30cm intervals and provide support before the flowers appear. Deadhead the faded blooms promptly and cut the dead stems back to ground level at the end of autumn.
  • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
